At least, 50 people were feared dead as boat conveying passengers from Gaya town in the neighbouring Niger Republic enroute to Lolo local market in Bagudo local government area of Kebbi state capsized in the over fl owing River Niger. Confi rming the incident to Blueprint in a telephone conversation, the council Chairman of Bagudo local government area, Alhaji Mohammadu Kaura Dan Hakimi, said the incident occurred at the early hours of yesterday. He said the boat was carrying over 100 passengers from Gaya a border town in Niger Republic and was reported to had broken into two parts as a result of over loading and couple with speedy wave of river Niger. While Messi agreed to a contract extension until 2021 in July, the Argentina captain is yet to officially put pen to paper on the contract with the La Liga giants. It has raised doubts over Messi’s future at Camp Nou, following Neymar’s world-record transfer to Paris Saint-Germain. Watchers on the Wall shared the two casting descriptions for the characters reportedly being cast in the UK right now. For now, the characters go by the generic names Northern Girl, and Boy. Former President Goodluck Jonathan has dismissed claims by respondents in a book written by the Chairman of the Editorial Board of ThisDay, Mr. Segun Adeniyi. Jonathan, who stated this in his twitter handle on Saturday, faulted claims by respondents in the book, “Against the Run of Play.” He said many of those that responded to issues surrounding the 2015 presidential election made distorted claims.     Adam Levine paid tribute to the late Christina Grimmie during the Voice on Tuesday night while also announcing the 'Christina Grimmie Foundation'.     Christina Grimmie was the Voice season six alum and was tragically shot and killed last June at her own concert. The Imo State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has called on his Ndigbo kinsmen to stop wasting resources in developing other land. He asked them to return to the east and set up their businesses instead of helping other states like Lagos, Kano to grow. Okorocha stated this while commissioning a hotel in Arondiziogu in Ideato council area of the state on Tuesday. He said, “I commend the proprietor of this hotel for coming home to invest. He could have built this hotel in Abuja or other places knowing too well that he could have made more profit, but he chose to think home. Let’s all come home, develop our area and create jobs for our people.” The governor further directed the state ministry of Works to assess the cost of drainage and asphalting the road leading to the area. The court had on April 6th unfrozen the money which was earlier seized by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, who suspected that the funds found in a Skye bank account were proceeds from financial crimes. The EFCC had applied for a stay of execution on the court order unfreezing her account. However at the court hearing today, counsel to EFCC, Rotimi Oyedepo, informed the court that the agency was withdrawing its application for stay of execution on the order and is also not going to appeal the order. Counsel to Patience Jonathan, Ifedayo Adedipe, confirmed to the court that he had been served with the EFCC’s application to withdraw its application for stay of proceedings. The Imo State Police Command on Friday arrested and charged 16 undergraduates of the Federal University of Tecnhnology, Owerri and Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, Imo State, respectively for an alleged involvement in cult-related activities in the state. In a statement by Andrew Enwerem, the Police Public Relations Officer, he stated that the suspected cultists were arrested in a bush in Ihiagw community, Owerri West Local Government Area of the state, Enwerem, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, alleged that the suspects were members of a cult group known as Neo black movement of Africa confraternity. In a renewed onslaught against the menace of cultism in Imo State, operatives of the state police command on April 14,2017, arrested over 16 suspected cultists in a bush in Ihiagwa in the Owerri West LGA. Sydney Prince, an undergraduate student of FUTO currently studying Materials and Metallurgical Engineering jumped into the Otamiri River inside the Campus Area in an attempt to end his Life.
